What is health?

Today I would like to introduce to you the Sister of Yoga. If yoga is a lifestyle that brings us toward self-awakening, her sister, Ayurveda (life knowledge) is about self-care. Just as Yoga does, Ayurveda offers a holistic approach to the human being and to health. It is one of the most powerful and complete systems of auto regulation and self care. Thousands of years before modern science started to recognize the interconnection between body and mind, the Yogis and Ayurvedic scholars were already investigating this connection. Ayurvedic and Yogic philosophy coincide with modern neuro science and quant physics: You are not an isolated being, you are an inseparable part of nature, of the energy- or intelligence field. The cells that I am made of, are the same one that compose You. From this holistic perspective we find a central idea about health that I would like to highlight today: According to Ayurveda, health is not just absence of illness, but an elevated state of awareness that permits a flow of vitality, well being, creativity and joy. Illness and its different symptoms are explained as an unbalance in the mind-body organism, which many times are possible to regulate through diet, natural medicine, sleep regulation, physical exercise, yoga and meditation, etc.

What does balance mean to you and how/what do you do to find balance in your daily life?

Some Ayurtips for these days:

Sleep the hours that are necessary for you and between the same times every night.
As you get up in the morning, take a big glass of warm water and lemon.
After water and shower, sit down to contemplate the morning silence: Take a confortable seat with your hips higher than your knees, close your eyes and be aware of your breathing. This could be your meditation – just a few minutes – it will change the start of your day!
Sit down for a nice breakfast and not until after breakfast, turn on your mobile or computer.
Look for a balanced diet with a lot of fruit and veggies, and try to eat at the same times every day.
Allow yourself to feel what you feel, observe your state of being and your habits, the coming and going of your thoughts, emotions, dreams and ideas. Observe how your emotions, whims and attitudes act within you.
I wish you a healthy week!
